ROCHESTER, MI- April 2008 is the 10th anniversary of the Red Hat Society. To celebrate, Red Hatters will be wearing purple hats and red outfits all year long.
Ordinarily, members of the Red Hat Society who are 50 years and older wear red hats and purple outfits 11 months out of the year. During the month of their birthday, Red Hatters switch their apparel colors to purple hats and red outfits. Throughout 2008, in celebration of the 10th anniversary of The Red Hat Society, Red Hatters can wear purple hats and red outfits all year long.
The anniversary should affect the sales of retailers catering to Red Hatters, since many women will be buying new red outfits and purple hats this year. RedHatsAndMore.com, which offers the largest selection of apparel and hats for members of the Red Hat Society, expects to sell many more purple hats and red outfits than usual this year. “Normally, we sell quite a few red outfits and purple hats for Red Hatters’ birthdays,” said Pam Schenkel, president of Red Hats and More, “but this year we expect to sell substantially more.”
