Inttranews included in UNESCO Information For All Success Stories

Paris, France (UNESCO IFAP): Only 4 years after its launch, fully designed, developed and financed in-house, Inttranews™ is now the leading news site for interpreters and translators, with more than 50,000 readers each month in 114 countries.

The service is syndicated, free of charge, by professional associations, university faculties and institutions in over 30 countries, including the International Association for Translation and Intercultural Studies (IATIS), and the International Federation of Translators (FIT). The basic service, which is available in English, French and Spanish, is free of charge.

The interest of the service is that it enables all kinds of interpreters and translators in every field, whether trainee or professional, to keep track each day of all the events and issues of interest or concern to languages and linguists worldwide. A major focus of the news service is on efforts to preserve linguistic diversity. For research and training purposes, Inttranews now has some 28,000 reports in its archives.

The quality and success of the service is due to the use of state-of-the-art search technology combined with human editors to sort reports for genuine interest. The same search technology can be applied in twenty other languages.

Unlike many other news sites, only short excerpts from news items are published, to protect the copyright of the authors, and an HTML link to the source sites is systematically included, thereby driving traffic to them.
