Rural Veterinary Officers (RVO`s) not to join if bird flue outbreak occurs in punjab

After the most dangrous outbreak in west bengal, and its spread to adjoining states like uttar pardesh, bihar . ,RVO`s appointed on contract by punjab govt are in difficult situation

PRLog (Press Release)Feb 04, 2008 – Rural Veterinary Officers (RVO`s) not to join  if bird flue outbreak occurs in punjab

Chandigarh( Date 3-2-08 )After the most dangrous outbreak in west bengal, and its spread to adjoining states like uttar pardesh, bihar . There is  a threat of outbreak of bird-flue in punjab. Prices of poultry products are declining in all over india. In this situation ,RVO`s appointed on contract by punjab govt are in difficult situation.
         Punjab State Veterinary Doctors Association (Regd), Punjab (PSVDA) has taken note of the situation . Here held a meeting of  state executive of PSVDA. In the meeting state president PSVDA, Dr.Abdul Majid  allegely said that punjab govt is deaf to the genuine demands of veterinary doctors. They have been kept on contract due to indifferent attitude of  punjab govt towards  veterinary services in punjab . There is a compromise with the health of people of punjab.
          Taking  notice of situation  of bird-flue , State Gen.Secretary, PSVDA,  Dr.Surjit singh  Mal said ,"Bird-flue is a life threatening disease. Those vets/paravet  staff  who handle diseased poultry birds may contract the infection which may cost even their life. But Vets (RVO`s) kept on contract are afraid of their duties if bird-flue comes to punjab , neither they have  secure jobs, neither medical security, nor personal security."
          In this way PSVDA have  sent a memorandum to the commissionar, ministry of agriculture and dairying, govt of india, chief secretary, punjab,Director ,Rual Devpt and Panchayats,punjab, Director ,Animal Husbandry, Punjab and to all Aditional Deputy Commissionars (Devpt) of punjab   , in which PSVDA has intimated their greviences to pb govt and appealed  pb govt to start earliest , the processes to regularise their services ,and to provide them with medical/personal security, so that they may abide by their duty to tackle national calamity wit no hesitation.
                         In the meeting,state Coordinater general,PSVDA, Dr. Sarvan  Kataria  said," otherwise all RVO`s along with their staff of  will not be able to participate in bird-flue eradication programe, if bird-flue outbreak occurs in punjab." He further said,"if govt remains deaf to their  demands, PSVDA  may  chalk out  a demonstration during punjab vidhan sabha session starting from 22  feb 08."
      in the meeting all distt presidents of PSVDA including Dr.Arvind Puri Bathinda,Dr.sanjay kumar Sangrur, Dr.Parshotam Ludhiana,Dr.Mauriya,Dr.Baljit  Singh, Dr.Manjit singh Fatehgarh Sahib , Dr.Surjit Kapurthala,Dr.Rakesh Mansa, Dr.Roshan Singh Faridkot  etc , along with state executive  members PSVDA were also  present.
