PRLog (Press Release) - Feb 01, 2008 -
INC Global Conferences Pte Ltd will hold another energy-related conference entitled “China Biodiesel 2008: Feedstock & Markets”. Following the success of its “Asia Biodiesel Industry 2007” conference that took place in Singapore in Nov 2007, the China biodiesel conference will take place on 27 – 28 February at the Great Wall Sheraton Hotel Beijing.

With oil prices exceeding the all time high of US$100 per barrel, the search for an alternative energy source has become imperative. China, currently the 2nd largest energy consumer in the world, has a large variant of options as feedstock for biodiesel production – jatropha, rapeseed and soybean. Its State Forestry Administration (SFA) has recently announced the allocation of 7,000 hectares of biodiesel forest that will take shape in Hebei, the northern province of China. Hebei, which borders Beijing, is among the seven regions designated to develop biofuel demonstration forests. This is part of China’s plans to cultivate 13 million hectare of high-grade bio energy forest by 2020. According to China’s National Development Reform Commission, China is expecting to produce 2 million tones of biodiesel by 2020.

Prominent industry experts have been invited to share their insights - Enhanced Biofuels & Technologies India P Ltd; Clean Energy Inc; Ark Bio Sdn Bhd/ Cosmo Biofuels; China Renewable Energy Industries Association; Setia Group; Desmet Ballestra; Van der Horst Biodiesel Pte Ltd; China’s National Development and Reform Commission; SAI Petrochemicals Pvt Ltd; World Agroforestry Organisation; Mckinsey & Company Inc; Protek Industries/ Cobra Biodiesel, Office of the National Energy Leading Group (China), Greater China Sustainable Development Council, Greater China Environmental Protection Limited, Shanghai Institutes of Biological Sciences of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Beijing Petroleum & Chemical Research Institute

The speakers and delegates from various sectors of this industry (government agencies, chemicals producers, biodiesel producers & refiners, energy & commodity traders, technology & equipment developers, and petroleum companies) are expected to discuss policy issues, regulations, market dynamics of various biodiesel feedstock, growth opportunities and challenges.
