Transform have a great history as business coaches. But their clients, small and medium size business owners, kept asking them to provide the same kind of assistance for their team members that they receive from their business coach. As a result of this popular demand Transform have begun to offer corporate training for managers, and workshops for the rest of the team.
“It seemed silly not to provide these workshops since so many of our clients obviously needed the help” said Managing Director Mike Otley of the logic behind the change. The new products include; workshops on sales training, operational skills, and business specific topics; one on one corporate training with managers; and one on one business advisory for the owner on a wide range of topics. Otley said of Transform’s approach to their product range “We’re moving away from a limited product offering to a highly market orientated approach; if the client wants it then we will find a way to provide it.”
For those of you who are not familiar with Transform you might be wondering who they are, what’s a business coach, and why would you need one? Well the answer to the first question is that Transform are a business coaching, business advisory, and team member training firm based in Christchurch, New Zealand but operating internationally. The firm was founded by James O’Connell in 2003 after he saw the strong need in the market for business coaches.
Now on to what a business coach is and why you need one. A business coach is someone who has a weekly conversation (quite often over the phone) in which they discuss your goals for the business, help you make new goals, and then they hold you accountable to those goals. That is one of the most important elements of coaching according to O’Connell, “Business owner’s must be held accountable to the decisions they make otherwise they won’t achieve anything near their potential”.
When it comes to why have a business coach the answer is simple says Otley “Business owners need someone who is independent but knowledgeable to discuss their business with, also it really helps that the first thing we do is help them increase sales, the subject that is usually closest to a business owner’s heart!”
