More than 100 members of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., on Tuesday, January 29th, will participate in a “Delta Day” of advocacy and outreach with elected officials in city and county government in Los Angeles. Wearing their trademark red and white—and ranging in age from 23 to 86--Deltas from 13 Southern California area alumnae chapters will appear before the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in the Hall of Administration, at 10:00 a.m. where they will honor the first black woman supervisor, Yvonne Burke, who is retiring, and then appear before the Los Angeles City Council in City Hall at 11:15 a.m. After lunch at the Tom Bradley Tower, they will discuss key issues with individual members of both governing bodies, and citywide elected officials. For more information, please contact Lia Martin, (310) 346-5233 or Jacquelyn Dupont-Walker, Social Action Committee Co-Chairs, Century City Alumnae Chapter, at (213) 494-9493.
