The National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii’s LOSE TO WIN challenge is in full swing! We kicked-off our competition on January 22 with a weigh-in at the Honolulu Club. Don’t worry if you missed it, you can still weigh-in anytime from now until March 8 when the LOSE TO WIN challenge culminates at the 2008 Gift of Life Festival held at Kapi’olani Community College from 7:30 am to 12:00 pm.
Every year our Gift of Life Festival symbolizes a second chance for many of our transplant recipients and we honor those who have donated to save the life of another. One of the ways we do this is through our one mile FUN WALK around the beautiful Kapi’olani Community College Campus. We want to encourage everyone to take the first step and register. So rally up your friends and family and walk to celebrate life and to create a greater awareness of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and the importance of organ donation.
The Festival will not only include the walk and the weigh-out for the LOSE TO WIN, but healthy exercise and cooking demonstrations, a giant health expo which will feature the important Kidney Early Detection Screening (KEDS), special activities for the keiki, including the great Magician Steve Williams. We will also have great entertainment for everyone including Joni B Redick-Yundt, author of “The Million Dollar Attitude,” Tango dancing with the Honolulu Club, Hula Dancing with Aureana Tseu, former Ms. Hawaii Teen, and great music to keep you moving throughout the day. Be sure to bring your appetites and enjoy a healthy brunch prepared by the Kapi’olani Community College Culinary of Arts.
