Salem, New Hampshire -- Tychi Systems, Inc., has completed a reproducible production facility which will allow the company to significantly increase the number of specialized distributors providing its products.
Tychi Systems, Inc. manufactures stand alone biometric door locks utilizing Scanned Thermal Imaging Recognition Technology. BioKnob and BioLever require nothing that could be lost, stolen or exchanged to operate. They eliminate keys, cards, fobs, and passcodes and have both commercial and residential applications.
The company initially offered their products predominantly through ecommerce resellers but quickly recognized the need to access commercial accounts and large residential applications through “Feet on the Street” relationship building sales approaches utilizing dealers and distributors.
Sheng B. Deng, President and CEO of Tychi Systems, a Fall River Massachusetts native and Northeastern University graduate, explained, “We knew that our products had broad applications and that our advanced technology would require radically different approaches to distribution. Fingerprint activated locks are revolutionizing the Security Industry just as cell phones have transformed the Communications Industry and will require similarly unique distribution channels.”
Tychi began distribution with ecommerce resellers then expanded with smaller retail lock and specialty hardware operations but was not achieving its desired market penetration and they feared becoming simply another doorknob on the shelf of the big box distributors.
Sheng continued “With BioKnob, we put a laptop computer in a door knob. Guys who sell door knobs don’t sell computers. We were lost in the maze of traditional distribution”
The decision was made to create exclusive distributorships for Tychi products, relying on gun slinging entrepreneurs willing to bring their creativity to the distribution table. The resulting success of the first few distributors created a new problem. How to meet the new supply demands for the trailblazers and their successors.
Sheng remarked “It’s great. These distributors are so creative in accessing new markets; it requires an application of Chaos Theory principles to predict their needs. Impossible.”
Tychi had to prepare for the future now. The result was the recently completed flex facility, a 100,000 square foot production plant template capable of being duplicated in as little as ninety days.
According to Sheng, “Biometrics is creeping into the mainstream now, but with technology, blink and you’re in the fast lane. The tipping point is on the horizon. However fast we get there, Tychi Systems is prepared to meet the challenge.”
