Speedtest.net global statistics page shows that Magnet Business customers are achieving upload speeds of 3890kbps, almost 3 times more that its nearest competitor at 1440kbps.* For download speeds Magnet Networks also comes out on top with average customer speeds of 5776kbps (as of January 23rd 2008).
Approved by most of the major ISPs worldwide, Speedtest.net is one of the most popular broadband speed testing websites, used over eight million times each month by millions of individuals worldwide. The website’s global statistics page provides a tool offering a view of the site’s entire database of test results filtered by country, region and all the way down to city level. As well as a global stats page, users can test the speed of their own individual connections and, at the end of each test, they are presented with the download and upload bandwidth speeds.
CEO of Magnet Mark Kellett said that; “The results come as no surprise to us given our focused investment to date on providing the Ireland’s most advanced network infrastructure. The debate in Ireland is now clearly moving on from simply having a broadband connection to the issue of quality and speed of service. The independent testing, showing Magnet in the Number 1 position, simply confirms our ongoing commitment to deliver the fastest, most reliable product in the Irish market.”
Speaking of the growing popularity of bandwidth monitoring sites of this nature Kellett says: “Speed analysis sites are becoming invaluable tools in keeping track of an ISP and making sure they are living up to their promises. With Magnet, customers receive a dedicated connection – uncontended - and this is reflected in the speedtest.net results. With eircom and their resellers sharing your connection with up to 23 other business and 47 other residential customers, it’s no wonder they don’t feature in the survey results – there was hardly anything left to test!”
