FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jan 23, 2008 – Every town in America is for sale on www.visitmytown.com the online travel guide.

Global travel information guide visitmytown.com announces that every town in America ( USA ) is for sale to a local resident.

To further expand the site Visit my Town is selling the advertising rights to each town in the USA to a local resident. Full details can be found at: www.visitmytown.com/members

Founded in May 2002 in Christchurch, New Zealand, Visit my Town works on a simple principle of providing free text links to the websites of local businesses so that readers can see each business as the owners want them to.

While there are a number of global town profiles on Visit my Town there are thousands more to be created. Until these can be done the site has found links to local tourism sites so readers can learn something about their intended destination.

Profiles of towns in the USA include:

Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Seattle

“We believe the best people to research a town are the locals “says Tim Gibyns “We are offering one person per town the chance for some part time employment. They can become a member and buy their town on www.visitmytown.com . This gives them the opportunity to sell advertising on the profile for their town.

The catch is they have to do the research for the links to businesses in their town which can involve up to 25 hours of work. We then create the town profile for them.

This presents a real opportunity for people such as single parents or students to generate a real part time income with very low overheads. The best part is they know their town better than we could ever hope to. Also a business is going to feel more relaxed dealing with a local than someone far away in Melbourne, Australia. It’s only with the magic of the internet that we can make this work.”

Visit my Town owner Tim Gibyns says “There are many travel websites on the internet that use their own standard format & views to present a business such as a restaurant or hotel. In many cases these sites are just boring. If they are not frequently updated the viewer can get the wrong information on prices, hours of business and many other items. A number of these sites will only include a business if they have paid a fee for the service”

Mr. Gibyns goes on to say “At Visit my Town we offer a simple layout with links directly to the website of the local business. This means a reader can see a hotel the way the owners want it to be seen, get the latest prices and special deals. A restaurant can showcase its monthly specials and its hours of business. This means our readers are getting the best information about a town and what it has to offer before they visit. The great thing is it can be used by locals or visitors to the town.”

Visit my Town has steadily grown via internet search engines and word of mouth from satisfied users especially backpackers. A search of google.com under the words “visit my town” finds www.visitmytown.com at the top of the list.

Tim Gibyns recalls a story from last year about a Dutch backpacker traveling in New Zealand. “She was talking in the coffee room of a short term office job and one of the people asked her how she found here way around New Zealand. The girl said she had found a great site that had backpacker hostels, travel information and lots of links to things to do in a town. Someone asked her the name of the website and she said www.visitmytown.com . I got to hear about it because the backpacker was working in my mother’s office, they had a laugh when she was told it was her son’s website. It’s a small world”.

With extensive profiles of towns in Australia and New Zealand www.visitmytown.com is now expanding into the USA, Canada and the United Kingdom

Profiles of Canadian towns include Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal.

Profiles for Singapore & London have recently been completed at:
