“Employees, volunteers and the families of The Carying Place are thrilled to start off the New Year with such a passionate and knowledgeable team,” said Marcinko. “I am especially looking forward to working with and learning from the Board and Committee Chair members who will bring a great deal of enthusiasm and knowledge to The Carying Place. Each year we continue to teach homeless families with children necessary life skills for attaining independent living while providing them with short-term housing support services. With such a strong team for 2008, I am confident that The Carying Place will continue to provide services to families in need.”
Other board members include Dave Atkins, Yvonne Asselle, Fred Byran, Delancy Carroll, Aretha Daugherty, Carolyn Hendricks, Charlie Hughes, Denise Moye, Julie Robison, Karen Sirls, and Mercedes Auger. Each member of the Board of Directors and Committee Chairs will serve for a three-year term. The Board of Directors and Committee Chairs will meet once a month and are responsible for making any major decisions concerning The Carying Place.

About The Carying Place
The Carying Place, Inc. provides a Transitional Housing Program (THP) that gives families an opportunity to stabilize their financial situation, leading to permanent self-sustaining housing. Each family accepted into the program is paired with a volunteer team, which works with the family to develop a personalized plan for self-sufficiency. Through financial assistance and broad-based counseling in life skills, The Carying Place seeks to help people work toward self-reliance and growth. They serve up to eight families at a time, and families stay in the programs up to four months.
