Carl Blackburn has described his work as a “personal odyssey toward the beautiful.” In his latest collection he continues that journey by using classical influences to create pieces that women can live in with comfort, glamour, and joy. Highlights of the collection include new Celtic cross diamond pendants and garden-inspired rings that reflect the designer’s enduring fascination with spiritual and ecological beauty. As always, Blackburn’s craftsmen continue to prove their reputation for exceptional hand-milgraining and delicate wire filigree.
Born into a family of jewelers, Carl Blackburn began his career in the late 1980s and carefully garnered a devoted clientele. Since 2003, he has operated an artisans’ studio that has displayed a virtuoso talent in producing pieces forged by Blackburn’s passion for nature, history, architecture, and fashion—and which have been featured in dozens of fine jewelry magazines in the United States and around the world. His 2008 collection, over 12 months in the making, demonstrates Blackburn’s unique sensitivity toward design, execution, and wearability.
Over the past two years, Carl Blackburn has established a close relationship with luxury jeweler Bill Pearlman, whose online website PearlmansJewelers.com draws over 8,000 visitors a day. Blackburn’s newest debut follows his celebrated Neo Classics 2007 Collection, which also premiered at Pearlman’s. “Bill is a true industry visionary,” says Blackburn. “Few other jewelers have been so forward-thinking in blending the traditional couture shopping experience with the dynamic potential of online luxury retailing. He was my first and only choice for the release of my 2008 collection.”
