California State Assemblyman Mark Leno Cosponsors San Francisco Transgender Health and Resource Fair

On January 25th, 2008, California State Assemblyman Mark Leno will cosponsor the first San Francisco health and resource fair dedicated to the transgender community.

PRLog (Press Release)Jan 21, 2008 – California State Assemblyman Mark Leno, San Francisco Transgender Empowerment, Advocacy and Mentorship (SF TEAM), Transgender Economic Empowerment Initiative (TEEI) and the San Francisco Department of Public Health - AIDS Office, HIV Prevention Section will host a health and resource fair to benefit residents of the San Francisco area on Friday, January 25, 2008, . We are making a particular effort to reach out to transgender communities and allies.

In addition to providing health screenings(HIV/STD testing, breast exams, TB screening), holistic health services, “Ask the Doctor with Dr. Nick Gorton, disseminating other health-related information, the fair will provide San Francisco residents with access to resources offering culturally sensitive services for economic empowerment and employment readiness.  All transgender community members and allies are invited to participate, connect and be engaged in San Francisco’s Transgender Health and Resource Fair.  

The free event will take place on Friday, January 25th from 10:00AM to 4:00PM at the State Office Building – Milton Marks Conference Center.  It is located at 455 Golden Gate Avenue (between Polk and Larkin Streets), Basement Floor in San Francisco.   Free lunch and prizes will be offered to all participants of the event!

The goal of the Transgender Health and Resource collaborative is to foster and promote health and wellness among San Francisco’s transgender community.  The Health and Resource Fair hopes to empower and mobilize transgender individuals in their health and well-being while strengthening and modeling innovative partnerships between the private, public and social (nonprofit) sectors.
