Jan. 18, 2008 - PRLog -- The University of Notre Dame, along with other prominent universities, is taking the lead in identity protection.  It has selected Identity Finder to protect the privacy of university students, faculty, and staff.

This month, Notre Dame selected Identity Finder -- the creators of software that locates and secures personal information, including social security numbers, passwords, bank and credit card information -- as the solution to help manage and protect the data that identity thieves find most valuable.  The partnership is the result of the university’s lengthy and comprehensive evaluation process to find software that can help officials at Notre Dame securely access personal information while at the same time ensuring that hackers cannot.

“It was imperative that we found a software platform which allows us to both manage the vast amounts of information necessary to running a major university, and to make sure that information is protected,” said Notre Dame’s Special Projects Manager in the university’s Office of Information Technologies,  Katie Rose. “Identity Finder’s application makes it easy to locate and encrypt the personally identifiable information we need and permanently shred the information we don’t.  We worked closely with their team to structure a system that meets our specific needs.”

Todd Feinman, CEO of Identity Finder says his company’s software is the ideal solution to a complicated problem, “Personal information wasn’t always so personal – Social Security Numbers were used as student and employee ids and they were stored deep within many computer systems.  Today, protecting the personal information of students and staff is of vital importance.  We are excited to partner with Notre Dame to help them stay one step ahead in keeping their information safe and secure.”

In addition to Notre Dame, most recently, the University of Chicago, Carnegie Mellon University, and The University of Texas at Dallas chose Identity Finder to fight the threat of personal information and data leakage.
