PRLog (Press Release) –
Jan 16, 2008 – Quintiles Transnational (Research Triangle Park, North Carolina) is to expand its global central laboratories and clinical development service (CDS) units in Beijing, China. The two units will be brought together at a single site in Sun Dong Ann Plaza in Beijing, close to the previous laboratory site in the Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH).
The new 17,000 sq ft Quintiles China facility will add 2,600 sq ft of laboratory space. The laboratory has 13 employees. CDS occupies 10,000 sq ft of the combined office area, compared with just 3,000 sq ft at its former location. Its staff is expected to grow to 60 within the next year. “Our larger facility will allow us to efficiently accommodate both … growth and our expanding test menu … to include specialised chemistry, PCR testing and complex flow cytometry,” said Tom Wollman, senior vice-president, global central laboratories. Lai Lee Tan, head of clinical operations and general manager in China, added that the consolidation of CDS and central laboratory operations would improve co-ordination and efficiency.
