Two youth girl soccer players from the Plainfield Freedom Soccer Club were selected to be part of the 2008 Illinois Youth Soccer / US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP). Madison Hansen (U14) and Bailey Wysocki (U15) were selected to join their respective player pools after grueling tryouts in Decatur, Illinois in early November 2007.
Madison and Bailey both played offensive and midfield positions for the Plainfield Freedom Soccer Club U15 competitive travel team in 2007. The team ended up tied for first in their division. Both girls attended and entire day of tryouts in November, and were selected to continue on in the ODP process by becoming part of the 2008 player pools. Bailey Wysocki was selected as a member of the 1993 age group Player Pool, and Madison Hansen was selected as a member of the 1994 (Older) age group Player Pool. Bailey, who was also selected as a pool player for the 2007 ODP team, hopes to go further in the process than last year. Both girls have been going through winter training sessions with their own age groups. During the state camp, held in June, players will be selected for the Illinois ODP State Team. Those individuals may also be given the chance to participate in the Regional Camp held in July.
Congratulations to Madison Hansen and Bailey Wysocki for making their 2008 player pools, and best of luck through the remaining Olympic Development process.
About ODP
"The Illinois Youth Soccer / US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program or Illinois ODP as it is more commonly called is a national identification and development program for top quality players throughout the country to represent their state, region, and the United States in soccer competition.
ODP teams are formed with each of the 55 US Youth Soccer State Associations and four regions, made up of the best players in the various age groups. At the state association level, pools of players are identified in each eligible age group, brought together as a team to develop their skill through training and competition. From the state pools and subsequent teams, players are identified for regional and national pools and teams."
