FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) –
Jan 14, 2008 – The New Tennessee Woman is a new website focused on improving mentorship opportunities between women and developing tomorrow’s female leaders and entrepreneurs.: http://www.thenewtnwoman.com Female authors, speakers, physicians, musicians, chefs, fashion designers, artists, and more will be included in the professional directory, with monthly interviews starting in January. “Women are doing great things across Tennessee,” states CEO, Rosanne Ferreri-Feske, “and it’s time we took stock of their success stories and helped the newest generation see these women as mentors for their given field. Every generation should be able to improve upon the next, and this can only happen when women’s stories are honesty shared to provide a current, practical roadmap. True progress will be attained for women when she has control over her destiny and can turn a hobby into a sustainable business that overflows to support philanthropic endeavors.”
Research as current as 2006 has proven that women have a harder time finding mentors, funding, employees and clients than their male counterparts. "Risk adversion can be overcome, as successful business women help those with new start-ups." Boden's report in 2000 stated that new ventures started by women are less like to survive over time; Robb and Wolken's report in 2002 states that women generate only 78 of the profit of a comparable business owned by a man; this site is here to tip the scales in favor of women," states Ferreri-Feske.
The ultimate goal--philanthropy--is essential, with TN charities that support women and children receiving the spotlight. The goal is “no woman left behind”: helping women renounce poverty and abuse, and learn parenting skills that will help her break cycles of dependence forever. Mentorship opportunities will be listed in 2008, and those with a desire to teach tomorrow’s leaders are welcome to post information about their company online free. The mentor must be willing to commit to one year of on-going communication and become a trusted guide and counselor, discussing all aspects of her business: staffing procedures, marketing, bookkeeping, salesmanship, stocking, advertising, etc. Paid internships will receive priority over unpaid. A multimedia gallery is available for artists and musicians; mp3 libraries and videos will be included. Interviews with successful female entrepreneurs will be a staple in 2008.
