Schibsted is using eZ Publish for online community building

PR Log (Press Release) – Jan 14, 2008 – The community DinMat.no is a joint venture run by five of the biggest newspapers of Norway’s Schibsted media group. Each of these newspapers (Aftenposten, Bergens Tidende, Stavanger Aftenblad, Adresseavisen and Fædrelandsvennen) has a large archive of food-related material, such as recipes and feature stories that were published in the newspapers. The goal of the DinMat.no website is to leverage this content and become the leading provider of online food and drink information in Norway. This goal is premised on building a community, with features like rich videos showing cooking techniques, community interaction, and fun, relevant functionality such as weekly menu planning and the ability to create shopping lists that are sent via SMS to the visitor’s cell phone.

The requirements for the DinMat.no.no website included flexibility, community features, time to market and of course total cost of ownership. In the short-list from the initial evaluation, three vendors were selected. Two of the vendors offer proprietary Content Management Systems; the third vendor, eZ Systems, provides eZ Publish Premium, a suite that includes the eZ Publish Open Source Enterprise Content Management System with enterprise-grade support and services. In the final selection process, eZ Publish Premium was found to be the best fit and the only package that could deliver in time. eZ Publish was also the best economical choice, with a total cost of ownership in the initial 3 years.
