Intense Pulse Light used to treat facial redness due to rosacea

Dr. Verret is pleased to offer intense pulse light treatments for facial redness due to rosacea.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jan 14, 2008 – Dr. D.J. Verret of Innovations Facial Plastic Surgery in Plano (North Dallas), Texas is pleased to announce the application of intense pulse light treatments to treat redness caused by rosacea. Dr. Verret comments, "Although rosacea is not a life threatening condition, it is a quality of life threatening condition. People who suffer from rosacea are often wrongly assumed to be alcoholic and in some cases walk around looking like they have a sunburn all the time. It can be create quite a self conscious situation."
Intense pulse lights treatments are similar to but not quite like a laser. A bright light is flashed on the skin with a filter placed in front of the light that filters out all the wavelengths except those that are taken up by pigment and small blood vessels which cause the red color. Though IPL treatments will not cure rosacea, when used in combination with lifestyle modification and treatment by a dermatologist, it will decrease the stigmata of a red face.
Intense pulse light treatments are performed in the office and patients can return to normal activities immediately after treatment. Extended sun exposure is discouraged before and after treatment and sunscreen use is encouraged. It may take several treatments before significant improvement is seen.
Dr. Verret is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery and fellowship trained in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. His state of the art office is located in Plano (North Dallas) Texas. He welcomes patients from the Metroplex and across the country.
