smArts!  the South Metro Arts Center, Inc. is pleased to announce its line up of 2008-2009 fund raising and arts and cultural awareness events. smArts!, a volunteer-run, 501(3)(c) arts and culture organization is working toward the formation and building of a comprehensive arts center for South Metro Denver. The 2008 events include its seventh annual Wines for the Arts! at Hudson Gardens in June and golf tournament in early summer. The organization is working on plans for a new event — a half-day business-community oriented symposium: Culture, Arts, and the South Metro Economy to be held Wednesday, April 30, 2008. The 2009 events include Wine for the Arts!, golf tournament, and Taste of the Arts. smArts! seeks volunteers to help with all aspects of event planning, fund raising, arts and cultural awareness, and on-site event support. All events provide opportunities for sponsors to show their support for arts, culture, and arts education in the South Metro community.

The smArts! executive board, an all-volunteer board, includes John Phillips, Chair; Marilyn Adkins, Vice Chair; Clyde Gilley, Treasurer; Gordon Brown, Volunteer Director and Librarian; Lillian Macca, Historian; Kim Larson-Cooney, Education Director; Shirley Meier, Member; and Pam O’Mara, Executive Director. She holds degrees from Pierce Law Center (L.L.M. in Intellectual Property), New England School of Law (J.D.); Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (M.S.); and Hofstra University (B.A).
