Jan 10, 2008 – YnFx PriceWatch report dated 28th December 2007 reports, Crude oil prices in the last week of 2007 increased across markets due to increased demand all over. European Brent spot averaged at US$93.80 a barrel and US crude Futures were at US$95.05 a barrel. OPEC basket averaged at US$88.76 a barrel with similar levels observed in Far East Asia.
Naphtha price in Japan was at US$870 a ton. Price in Rotterdam got quoted at US$677 while Mediterranean and Singapore were moderately high by US$30 and US$12 a ton. Far East contract prices and Singapore swaps remained unchanged due to the year ending holiday. Price for 1.4D/38 mm SD in China for delivered terms fell to US$1.63 a kg while other specs remained stable across markets. 1.4D/38 mm in Taiwan was at US$1.40 a kg, FOB terms. In Pakistan, PSF prices for different specs ranged from US$1.45 – US$1.74 a kg. In India, 1.4D/38 mm price was at US$1.60 a kg. PFY price in Malaysia & Indonesia saw mixed price movements. POY 75D fell 5 cents to US$1.55 a kg. In China prices increased 2 cents while in Pakistan, it declined by 1-2 cents for respective specs. MEG prices in the week loosened up US$30-20 in Asia. Front Month offer in Korea/Taiwan was quoted at US$1,470 a ton. PTA prices in the week increased moderately by US$15-20 a ton across Asia. Korea/Taiwan offers for PTA increased to US$840 rising US$15 a ton. In China, goods in bonded area were at US$860 a ton while imported goods were at US$830 a ton. Domestic producers in China increased their prices by US$42.43 to US$950 a ton. Polyester chips in Taiwan fell by US$100 to US$1250 a ton. In China prices stayed mixed as CDP prices increased by US$40 while super bright price moderately declined by US$15. In the week its upstream PTA price increased while MEG price continued its fall. NFY prices in China increased by 1-4 cent. POY 20D/1 SD was at US$6.01 a kg. In Korea prices ranged from US$3.10 – 3.70 a kg respectively. In China DTY prices increased by 2 cents while FDY prices were 3 cents. Polypropylene prices in China increased by 2 cents. 1.5D 38 mm spec was priced at US$1.72 a kg. Polypropylene prices in Turkey remained stable except FDY 120D which increased 4 cents to US$2.6 a kg. Nylon Chips prices in China local market increased by about US$30-35 while import prices in China remained steady. SD high speed spinning in SE Asia was quoted steady at US$2,720 a ton. ASF prices in the week in China for 1.5D/38 mm were at US$2.55 a ton while in Taiwan for the same spec was US$2.25 a ton. In India it was US$2.76 a ton respectively. In India, ASF prices ranged from US$2.76 – US$ 2.82 a kg. Acrylonitrile in the week remained steady except in North China where it increased by US$20 to US$2,122 a ton. Propylene prices in Korea remained stable at US$1,140. Last week Propylene in Taiwan and China closed at US$1,185 a ton. VFY prices in the week increased across markets. 75D bright in China was at US$7.39 a kg increasing 7 cents. In India prices for respective spec increased 2 cents as 15D bright was at US$4.72 a kg. VSF prices in India inched up a cent. 1.2D bright was at US$2.87 a kg and dull was 3.04 a kg. In China, 1.5D/38 mm was at US$3.03 a 3.03 a kg. Cotlook ‘A’ index increased by a cent to US$1.56 a kg whereas New York futures in USA closed at US$1.49 a kg higher by 4 cents. Cotton China index was at US$ 1.86 a kg higher by 2 cents. In India cotton prices increased by 1-4 cents across specs.
