Tuscaloosa, AL – Artist LaShonda Scott Robinson President of Scott Robinson designs, Inc. has given watercolor a mature makeover with her urban sexy paintings. “I have painted with watercolor since I was a child,” states Robinson. “We have grown and matured together. My paintings are a reflection of our journey.” Though many people consider watercolor inferior to oil, Robinson believes they are just as significant. “Some people think of watercolor as that watery stuff they used to paint with as kids,” says Robinson. “I want to change the perception of the medium by creating work that is bold, urban and sexy.”
Robinson believes watercolor has a lot of potential. “The medium is only as good as the person using it,” states Robinson. “Watercolor needed a makeover and my work definitely redefines the medium. Robinson’s favorite muse is black women. “Pairing the usually translucent medium watercolor with the deep complexity of black women is an interesting and sexy combination,”
Scott Robinson designs, Inc. specializes in redefining watercolor and telling the stories of black women. “I love watercolor and I hope my work inspires artist, collectors and curators to see the medium in a new light,” says Robinson. “These are not your childhood watercolors. My paintings are strictly for the grown and sexy.”
