GradGathering.com is aimed at students, graduates and young professionals.
The aim is to help provide students and recent graduates with information and contacts, by networking together, on how they might be able to gain a job in their preferred industry whilst also providing a network for young professionals looking to expand their network or indeed find a second job.
Whilst there are plenty of job websites, forums and information available to students and graduates, none encapsulate the needs of these groups of people within a dedicated career building social network.
Working on the successes of both the online recruitment sector and various online social networking websites the combination of both has created a new niche potential. The site features customisable profiles, groups, forums and a fully integrated networking environment.
Currently, people who join can create an online profile which matches their CV allowing other members to easily see what background a particular user has. By building up a “Contacts”
Every user has the ability to create their own groups that include forums, galleries, a live chat feature and an events calendar – all of which are controlled by the group’s creator. These can be used to further expand on their own network, advertise themselves and organise information on a common interest.
The website is centred around a forum that provides an initial “playground”
The idea originated from the creator’s own trying times during unemployment:
“I’ve come from a position, as a graduate, where I found it extremely difficult to find a job for a long period of time. I quite literally tried everything until in the end it was down to luck. If there had been something like GradGathering.com during that time then I would have jumped at the opportunity to network and talk to people in the same position as me and to people already starting a career.”
