LOUISVILLE – Glass artists who can negotiate the fires of love and glass -- at the same time – will be the subject of an exhibition at Flame Run contemporary art glass studio Feb. 8 through March 21. An opening night reception is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m.
The exhibit focuses on the surprising number of glass artists who have successfully combined art and romance, said Flame Run co-owner Brook White who founded the studio and hot shop with his wife Susie Slabaugh White.
The multi-step processes of conceptualizing, designing, glass blowing and flame work lend themselves to teamwork. Some glass artists collaborate at every stage. Others take different responsibilities – one designs the art and the other executes the design. And some only collaborate at the end – seeking constructive criticism, said Susie Slabaugh White.
The exhibit will include the work of at least four other couples who are glass artists.
