Raleigh, NC Business Xpansion Journal, a global publisher of articles covering business expansion and industrial relocation projects, has published an article in the January, 2008, edition by Thomas Vass, a North Carolina innovation economist.
Plugging Into Local Business Networks describes some of Vass’ recent work in the area of the relationship between technological innovation and regional economic development. Vass is the author of Predicting Technology (2007), a book which explains how innovation causes economic growth.
“I wanted to explain to the audience of 22,000 readers of the Journal the new thinking about new venture creation and regional growth,” said Vass. “Most of the time, I am engaged in an endless debate about industrial recruitment incentives, and I hope that this article moves the debate into a more fruitful area of discussion about how local technology clusters can support new high tech business growth.”
In addition to publishing the article, Rachel Duran, the editor of the Journal announced that she was appointing Vass to the Business Xpanision Journal Editorial Advisory Board. In her appointment, she said that members of the Board represent various sectors of the site selection and economic development professional community. As a part of the duties on the Board, Vass will have an opportunity to write a regular featured column and provide advice on the direction of the magazine.
