William Woltz, music director for WCPE, TheClassicalStation.org, announces the station’s New Year’s Eve offerings for December 31.
WCPE will celebrate the joy of classical dance with a collection of Viennese waltzes and dance music written by the Strauss family, Emile Waldteufel, Joseph Lanner and others. Opening the evening of gaiety and dance is the Cleveland Orchestra presenting “Der Rosenkavalier”
Music & Vision reviewer, Kelly Ferjutz, described the Cleveland Orchestra’s 2007 performance of “Der Rosenkavalier”
The evening will be topped off with a presentation of Beethoven’s “Ninth Symphony” at midnight in order to ring in the New Year. The presentation of Great Classical Music never ends on WCPE, so as listeners put away their dance shoes and drift off to sleep, announcer Tara Lynn will present classical music favorites from around the globe.
