Independent broadband comparison website Broadband Genie reports that there has never been a better time to compare broadband providers.

"The broadband marketplace has continues to get more and more competitive in 2007, with heavyweights such as Sky, Virgin Media, and TalkTalk contending with big money entrants such the Post Office, O2 and Vodafone.
"There's a host of fantastic offers around for consumers who are prepared to shop around - not least the offer of a free PS3 from AOL! - and there's also encouraging signs that ISPs are investing in customer service as a competitive advantage. O2, for example, are promising to automatically downgrade customers to cheaper packages if they're not achieving the higher speeds advertised on more expensive packages.
"The downside for consumers is still the clunky 'Mac code' system for switching providers, which our customers suggest is really holding people back from changing ISPs."
