In a departure from the majority of fan based Star Trek Internet sites, professional screenwriter Will Stape has launched NOVA TREK - a collection of related celebrity interviews, informational resources, op-ed pieces and articles.
NOVA TREK specializes in evergreen content, which draws Star Trek fans along with anyone curious about a Hollywood phenomenon. Star Trek remains a pop culture juggernaut, with sizable influence on the American entertainment landscape, and an international appeal abroad, which is as enthusiastic. Gene Roddenberry created original Star Trek starring William Shatner & Leonard Nimoy, which ran on NBC from 1966-1969. Despite the series lasting only three seasons, the show went on to spawn five additional series, ten theatrical films and scores of books, games and merchandise. Currently, director JJ Abrams is filming a new Star Trek movie for Paramount Pictures.
Stape's professional foray into Star Trek territory came in 1993 when he sold a spec script to Star Trek: The Next Generation. His episode was "Homeward" and starred popular actor Paul Sorvino as featured guest star. In 1994, Stape sold another TV script, this one for spin-off Deep Space Nine which became "Prophet Motive."
Unlike the majority of sites, which deal in news tidbits or gossip, NOVA TREK will focus on Star Trek oriented content of fan interest and entertainment scholars alike. The simple design and interface promises to bring a quiet, creative port in the deafening storm of online Star Trek fandom.
