Expansion of Trade Fairs for Hotels and Restaurants in Germany

In February and March 2008 the German hotel and restaurant managers are keen on trade fairs. In Hamburg, Stuttgart and Berlin four trade fairs invite them to presentations of innovative hospitality goods and new F&B ideas. According to a study of CHD Expert, for 40 percent of the German hotel and restaurants managers the Internorga in Hamburg is the favoured trade fair. With nearly 1,000 suppliers and over 100,000 visits the Internorga is one of the leading trade fairs in Europe.

“For foreign suppliers the expansion of the Internorga in Hamburg on the enlarged fairground and the Intergastra in Stuttgart on a completely new large fairground are interesting places to present their innovative ideas to the German Away-from-Home Market,” Rolf W. Schmidt says. Mr Schmidt is CEO European Business Development of the international market research group CHD Expert. “In addition the ITB Supply, a small special show of the world’s largest tourism trade fair ITB in Berlin becomes more and more important for suppliers,” Mr Schmidt points out.

The Internorga in Hamburg (March 7-12, 2008 – www.internorga.com) is the leading trade fair for the European Away-from-Home Market. 20 percent of the 1,000 exhibitors come from Europe (except Germany) and North America. The new halls on the enlarged fairground in the city centre of Hamburg are totally booked out for the next years. At the same time the Gastro Vision show (March 7-11, 2008 – www.gastro-vision.com) is held at the recently opened Hotel Empire Riverside.

The Intergastra in Stuttgart (March 9-13, 2008 – www.intergastra.de) is held every two years. Next year the trade fair will open on the new large fairground at the airport. 750 exhibitors and nearly 72,000 visitors are expected.

The special show ITB Supply during ITB fair (March 5-7, 2008 – Halls 7.1a and 7.1b – www.itb-berlin.com) becomes more and more important for suppliers. For the next year approximately 30 suppliers are expected to present their innovative ideas beneath the popular so-called hotel halls 8.1 and 9 on the Berlin fairground.

Also interesting for foreign exhibitors is the trade fair “Gaeste” in Leipzig (November 15-18, 2007 – www.gaeste.de). Approximately 19.900 visitors from East Germany and the neighbouring countries made contact with 338 exhibitors and turned “Gaeste 2007” into the most important regional trade fair for hotel and restaurant managers.
