New Cancer Drug to help Fight Mesothelioma

Europeans successfully test new drug that fights Mesothelioma

Dec. 18, 2007 - PRLog -- The drug Vinflunine has successfully been tested in Europe to fight Mesothelioma.  After rigorous tests it has been found that Vinflunine improves patients response rates by 13.8%.  This is good news for Mesothelioma patients, since there are currently no effective means of treating Mesothelioma.

The test was done on 67 patients whom did not receive chemotherapy or radiotherapy before participating in the clinical trial.   Every 21 days a large dose of Vinflunine was administered to each patient.  At the end of the testing these patients showed a marked improvement.    Since Altima is currently one of the only successful drugs that prolong the life of Mesothelioma patients, Vinflunine could become a much needed tool that will help these cancer victims.

Mesothelioma is a cancer that is caused by direct exposure to asbestos.  It usually effects low income industrial workers who were exposed to this carcinogen while on the job site.  More info can be found on http://www.adviceformesothelioma.com.
