Dec 17, 2007 – Angular stomatitis, a skin condition that contrary to some people's belief, is unrelated to either core sores or herpes but instead one where deficiencies in Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, iron and other nutrition could have led to people ultimately suffering from it. Also known as perleche or cheilosis or angular cheilitis (although misspelled as angular chelitis), sufferers exhibit symptoms such as painful splits of the skin and sores at the lips and mouth with bleeding occurring when the mouth is opened. Among the millions of perleche sufferers, are elderly people who due to loss of teeth thus allowing for mouth over-closure, experience a loss of vertical dimension.
