Hammerax™ Hybrids Pass 1 Year Mark Without Cable Breakage.

Hammerax™ company announced today that they have had no reported breakage of the support cables in their bronze hybrid percussion instruments. Boomywang®, Meanie®, Lash®, Culebra®, and Glass® brand hybrids all use lightweight but durable cable to bring out highs and increase volume.

"We torture tested these hybrids before releasing them but drummers were understandably concerned as to whether such a  light cable would hold up in real world testing, so we are pleased to hit this mark with a perfect score." says John Stannard, Hammerax™ president. "The biggest key to our strength is the use of a special type of Spectra® fiber cable - a product of honeywell." says Stannard. This release of technical material data is out of character for Hammerax™, who closely guard most all of their formulas and processes.

Spectra is an extended-chain polyethylene fiber and has one of the highest strength-to-weight ratios of any man-made fiber. Spectra® fiber is, pound for  pound, 15 times stronger than steel, and has a specific strength that is up to 40 percent greater than that of Kevlar. Specific performance is dependent upon denier, filament count, and specific tempering and drawing methods. "In my former company we used Spectra to hang our higher end wind chimes and when we started using it we realized that we had to use absolutely fresh razor knives just to trim the cables. It is also very slippery- you need to tie multiple knots. Other than abusive repeated direct impact at the entry hole, or heating the product over 160 degrees, it seems to just last and last. This extra strength allows the real voice of the instrument to come through as if it were floating." Hammerax™ cables are also modular. They replace quickly by slipping them into the slotted wood frame, but so there has been no need for the company to send out the free replacement cable packs.
