Travature (http://www.travature.com)
, a fast growing Internet travel startup, has integrated additional and novel functionality to their flight search process with activity tags. Activity tags will allow users to search for their flight destination by what type of activity or interest a user has. In the past year Travature (
http://www.travature.com) has partnered with over 50 airlines to create one of the web’s leading meta-search engines for airfare, and with the addition of activity tags Travature hopes to keep at the top of this elite list.
“Activity tags will change the way people view online airfare searching,” says senior engineer Derek McGowan. “Previously, consumers looking for airfare had to pick a departure and arrival city, but Travature’s activity tags enable users to search for airfare based on their specific interest. For example if you knew you wanted to go somewhere with beaches on your vacation you can now input your departure city and then “beaches” into the arrival city input box and be shown how much it costs to fly to any city tagged “beaches.”
The utility doesn’t end with basic search terms either, activity tags are generated by our users, they will be able to search for virtually any activity or interest imaginable. As of now our most popular tags are: “golfing,”
“beaches,”
“surfing,”
and “fishing.”
Activity tags are the first of many unique services which Travature (http://www.travature.com)
will be able to provide as they strive to unify all aspects of travel. Their next project is a community platform to allow users to connect and share their travel experiences, photos, hotel reviews, and restaurant reviews all on a personal level.
Incorporated by constant travelers Jeremy Almond, Chris Hendricks, and Flora Ng in January of 2007, Travature has since positioned itself as one of the fastest growing web 2.0 companies in San Diego. . Travature is privately funded, basing its current operations in Sorrento Valley, San Diego, CA.
