Travis Swope entered an online promotion sponsored by Wendy’s Hamburgers to win burgers for life. “I thought I might win one of the smaller prizes. I never thought I would be in the top three on the last few days of the promotion and have a chance to win burgers for life.” commented Travis. “I just thought it might help me save some money if I could get free lunch from Wendy’s as I run a small business and every dollar matters.” Travis and his brother are the owners of a small skate shop in Whittier, California and have developed a loyal customer base due to their active community support of events and working with kids to encourage them to grab a skate board and head outside instead of playing video games. It is this loyal base which Travis attributes to propelling him to the top of the contest.
The contest sponsored by Wendy’s had participants create an online profile with reasons why they should win Free Burgers for Life. Travis created a profile and shared that he is raising 5 children and running a small skate shop, then emailed a few friends to let them know about the contest and hoped to get some votes. “It was a shock when I saw how many votes I was receiving each day” added Travis. The loyalty of Travis’ skate shop customers had them returning every day to the contest website and voting, emailing friends to encourage them to vote, and messages being posted in online forums by fans of Travis’ small skate shop to encourage skaters from around the world to vote. “I just wish I had as many customers as people who have supported me in the contest.” jokes Travis, “but it nice to know our customers care about us.” Voters for Travis started posting notices on his Myspace account as a show of support. “I have people who are friends of people who are friends of customers who live in other countries and I have never met voting for me.”
This show of support by customers raised the spirits of Travis after his store was recently robbed. “The robbery was hard and caused us financial hardship but having customers show they care makes you want to work hard to overcome the tough spots.” shared Travis. The support for his quest to win burgers for life has placed him in second place in the contest and he hopes to rally support in these last two days of voting. Voting occurs online at a website set up by Wendy’s. ‘We set up a link on our skate shop website so people could find us as over 40,000 people signed up for the contest.” You can vote for Travis by visiting www.2felons.com and clicking on the link Help Travis Win Burgers link
