Standing at an amazing 20 feet tall and displaying a wingspan of 32 feet, this sculpture is the largest eagle sculpture ever made. It expresses the true power and freedom of the great American Bald Eagle. The artist constructed this masterpiece right out of his head. Holding the image of the finished product clear in his mind with each cut and weld of the surgical stainless steel used to construct his vision.
The eagle shines with brilliance after he hand polishes his work to a mirror finish. The use of the highest quality surgical stainless steel ensures the Eagle will survive hundreds of years and not lose the luster it had on the day it was completed.
The title of the piece is Power & Freedom. The artist was inspired after the heart wrenching shock of the 9/11 tragedy. He felt the attack represented an assault on a symbol of the American way of life. He wanted to pay tribute to all that lost their lives and offer something that would stand as a reminder of the irrepressible nature of the American spirit. Something that inspires all who see it.
Keep in mind this piece was dreamt of and built by a Canadian who lives on the West Coast of Canada. Eagles are known to group in some of the largest numbers in the world right in the area where he lives. Growing up around eagles his passion for them grew into a life long urge to give a voice to these amazing creatures. To make that voice speak within each cut and weld of the largest sculpture ever made of an American Bald Eagle.
Being a true artist his dream was embedded in idealism. His wish was to have the piece placed in front of the new World Trade Center buildings. Standing proud and acting as a testament to the American spirit of independence, power and freedom. It expresses the irrepressible expression of the American way of life. Barring this he feels it deserves a home where many can witness and experience its beauty.
His vision was realized over a period of 9 months of eating, dreaming and sleeping on his work. This labor of love resulted in a completely unique and awe-inspiring piece.
