Commenting on the award, VERCO sales and marketing director Chris Riley said:
"We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our output. We implemented systems to identify all relevant environmental legislation to ensure that we meet requirements and have identified both short- and long-term objectives.
"Consideration is given during the design stage of VERCO furniture manufacture to use materials that will reduce the impact of our products throughout their life cycle. Waste production is being reduced wherever possible, and where it is unavoidable, is being evaluated for re-use or for recycling potential."
Chris Riley added that the company recognised the environmental impact of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) contained in some of its processes, and that it was working with the manufacturers of VOCs to reduce their use and consequent impact on the environment.
BS EN ISO 14001:2004 requires that an environmental policy be in existence within the certified organisation.
