CVISION Technologies releases CVista PdfCompressor 4.0

CVISION Technologies (www.cvisiontech.com), a leading provider of image compression, recognition, and PDF workflow applications announced today the release of CVista PdfCompressor 4.0. The new release includes breakthrough improvements in compression quality, OCR recognition accuracy, and speed. PdfCompressor 4.0 also adds support for handwriting (ICR,) barcode recognition, and PDF/A format for archiving. The new version is designed to generate “smart,” optimized, scanned documents through compression, recognition, and archiving. Batch multi-threading is also supported to fully utilize multi-core CPUs and is 64-bit and Windows Vista compliant.    

CVista PdfCompressor 4.0 strengthens features of earlier releases, and adds new features to meet the expanding needs within document imaging. Version 4.0 contains enhanced compression; scanned documents are compressed up to 100x their original size while maintaining file quality. PdfCompressor 4.0 also converts 14 files formats including TIFF, JPEG, and PDF to either PDF or PDF/A for long-term archiving.

The new release combines the super-accurate OCR of previous versions, including support for multi-directional and low contrast text, with more robust image recognition options including ICR, recognition of handwritten text and barcodes. The PdfCompressor module has an additional cover recognition module, CovR that can be utilized for automated document separation and file name assignment. “Imaging clients are seeking greater optimization and automation in their document workflow; this need requires recognition beyond OCR. In an effort to create the most optimal product for clients, Version 4.0 also features an improved GUI for easier simpler use, a recursive watched folder option, an improved license tool for automated battery alerts, and multi-threading support for maximum CPU utilization.
