Bobby G’s Pizzeria Introduces Pan Fried Pizzas to Berkeley

PRLog (Press Release) – Dec 09, 2007 – Bobby G’s Pizzeria, the artisan pizza, pasta, and panini restaurant on University Ave. in the heart of downtown Berkeley, is introducing a line of pan fried pizzas to its menu.  Known for their high quality thin-crust pizzas, organic ingredients, and free live blues and jazz, Bobby G’s is raising the bar in the so-called “pizza wars” with the fried pizzas.  

Pan fried in a small amount of extra-virgin olive oil, the new pizzas are extremely thin, crispy, and flavorful.  The first four pizzas being introduced are a fried Pizza Bianca; Sausage, Peppers and Onion; Sauteed Mushrooms with Goat Cheese; and for vegans, a sweet Marinara Pie.  The Bianca is a simple “white pie” with fresh whole-milk mozzarella, aged parmesan, and fresh herbs.  The Sausage, Peppers and Onion pizza includes a tiny bit of fresh marinara, fresh mozzarella, sweet Italian sausage, roasted peppers, and caramelized onions.  The Sauteed Mushrooms with Goat Cheese pizza includes fresh mozzarella, sautéed shiitake, crimini, and button mushrooms, Laura Chenel goat cheese, and a touch of truffle oil.  The Marinara Pie is simply a fried pizza with sweet, organic marinara sauce and fresh herbs.  For non-vegans, shredded aged parmesan is added just before serving.  

“We are very excited about these new pizzas,” says Robert Gaustad, co-owner of Bobby G’s Pizzeria.  “Frying them in olive oil adds a ton of flavor to the pizzas and makes them very crispy.  Since they are so thin and we keep the toppings very light, we’re going to sell these as 9” appetizer pizzas, instead of as full meals.   We’re starting out with four pizzas, but are already working on a bunch more, including a couple of fantastic dessert pizzas.  They’ll be here very soon.”
