CHERRY HILL, NJ - New Jersey’s turning out to be a bigger hotbed of new music than most people have ever dreamed was possible, and A Hero From a Thousand Paces is getting ready to lead the charge in 2007. With their 1x1 Music debut Mistakes hitting retail shelves last Spring, their twelve tracks of anthemic indie rock has been chiming, slashing and burning while smoothing it all over with Mark Fray’s highly emotive and velvety vocals. "We're more excited than you know," he replied about the album's release. "We are shaking in our pants!"
Featuring members of the seminal punk bands The Pennyroyals and Riding Bikes, HERO has traveled down the same turnpike that Thursday, Saves the Day and My Chemical Romance coasted down, but instead of sticking to the road-tested parkway, they've veered off and taken a much more exciting exit.
From the blaring guitar sirens and striking fretwork of the opening track “Bold and the Beautiful” to the chiming piano cum ringing guitars of “Semantics”
With the wait over now that Mistakes is available nationwide, A Hero From a Thousand Paces are ready to save the day. And from the sound of the current music scene, they couldn’t have come at a better time. "It's our goal to make HERO a household name," says guitarist Sprout, half jokingly. And from the way it sounds, his excited optimism is well-founded.
