Modern Christmas Story Told in Xlibris Picture Book

Santa Claus encounters a North Pole-size problem with New York as his backdrop in the funny and modern Yuletide tale, Don’t Park on the Roof: A New York Christmas Story.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Dec 04, 2007 – Santa Claus has never encountered any snags in his gift-giving sprees during Christmas Eve. However, ‘tis on this particular night before Christmas when he gets into a snag the size of the North Pole while teetering over the rooftops of New York City: he loses his reindeer and sleigh.

The pains that old Saint Nicholas has to go through to recover his main mode of transport and return to the North Pole becomes the storyline behind the Xlibris Christmas release, Don’t Park on the Roof: A New York Christmas Story.

Don’t Park on the Roof is the product of the collaboration of Barbara Bustetter Falk and Helen Kandel Hyman. Interestingly, they used New York as the backdrop for their modern Christmas tale, noting the stoic nature of the city and most of its residents.

In an effort to paint some Christmas color on the busy metropolis, the authors of Don’t Park on the Roof subjected their main character to experiences that any New Yorker would go through on the regular holiday rush. With the loss of his reindeer and sleigh, Santa is forced to ride a bus and a horse-drawn carriage. He visits Times Square, rides a leaky party balloon, and receives clues from the grand Statue of Liberty herself as to his reindeer and sleigh’s whereabouts.

As with any children’s book, Don’t Park on the Roof concludes on a happy note. Santa is reunited with his beloved reindeer and sleigh in the end, but not before learning a valuable lesson: that sometimes, going through the road less-travelled can guide you home.

Don’t Park on the Roof is for juvenile reading, and yet its message applies for young and old alike. Both parents and their children will not only enjoy the picture book’s wonderful illustrations but will also take to heart the humorous yet engaging story of how Santa flying sleigh got “sleigh-napped” – New York style. Don’t Park on the Roof is certainly a Yuletide tale with a modern twist.

Authors
Barbara Bustetter Falk has never received any formal schooling on the techniques of painting and illustration. Despite this, her artworks – creations of pure talent and genius – have already been exhibited throughout the world. Her paintings are also found in many public and private collections. Falk has penned and illustrated other children’s books, one of which was selected by the Society of Illustrators in New York City as “The Very Best of Children’s Book Illustration.”

For Don’t Park on the Roof, Barbara has again displayed her creative artistry in all of the book's artwork.
