FLORENCE- Ismail Acar is at the Florence Biennale with his 3 paintings which consisted of 16 part artworks.
As Acar uses distinguishably past and present, East and West together in his paintings, he is showing his Naked Pasha triptic, Mahmut, Nikola and Napoleon triptic and a modern composition of 15 century paper engravings at the Florence Biennale that takes place in the historical Fortezza da Basso in Italy.
Acar whose art at the Florence Biennale from December 1-9, 2007, his paintings have been exhibited at many galleries within Turkey and abroad, and some of his artworks are in museums and private collections.
Acar has been creating his art in Istanbul, the city that was the capital of three empires, East Rome, Byzantine, and Ottoman. Istanbul is at the crossroads of East and West, a melting pot of cultures, and it also known by its vitality and excitement.
Acar's 2005 Venice Exhibiton
Florence Biennale 07 Exhibition is not a first exhibition for Acar in Italy. He was an extraordinary exhibition in Venice 2005.
His Sultans in Venice exhibition was a major three-part art event held during the 51st International Biennale of Venice in June 2005, that was organized by the venetian curator Umberto Branchini. The Installations of the Sultans in Venice, curated by Branchini, was held in 20 different terraces along the Grand Canal. The second show by Acar in Venice, also curated by Branchini, was The Sultans that was held at the Fondaco dei Turchi: Museum of Natural History. The "Red Room" and the "White Room" Exhibitions at The Institute of Science, Literature and Arts, in Grand Canal,Venice was also organized by Branchini and it had as huge a success as the others.
At the same time, in Venice, the images and the sounds of the video, "Sultan Dream" was jointly realized by Umberto Branchini (art director) and Artist Ismail Acar in a collaboration with Bruna Rotunno (video director) and Eraldo Bernocchi (sound designer).
Acar at the National Gallery of Macedonia
Acar's new destination is Skopje city of Macedonia for a new exhibition at the National Gallery of Macedonia. The exhibition will be opening by Prime Minister of the country on December 10, 2007.
