Follow on Google News | Author Hopes to ‘Kindle’ the Flame of Self-Published NovelAuthor uses Amazon's new Kindle device to promote book at discounted price
By: LRWilliamson.com Prairie Springs was a seven-year project from the first word to becoming available at most online book retailers. However, since the book is self-published, the author’s work has just begun. Without the help of an agent, publicist or major publishing company, word of mouth and luck will be the keys to the author’s success. Self-publishing gives the power to the author, so when it came time to setting the price for his book on Kindle, instead of charging the going rate of $9.99, like most bestsellers, Williamson is hoping the promotional price of $1.99, a $14.00 discount over the bound book price, will help his novel to stand out amongst the other electronic book files. The idea came to the author after recalling The Secret, and how Jack Canfield got the Chicken Soup for the Soul ball rolling by offering it at a low price. “It’s all about getting it out there— one way or another. I know I’ve written a good, funny, and controversial book. But I’m shy, so I have to be clever,” Williamson says. Prairie Springs is the story of a young Jewish woman who leaves her Wall Street job to accept a teaching position in a small, predominantly Baptist, Texas town. She makes the trip with her gay best friend. What ensues is the discovery that the town is built on a web of secrets, and once it starts to unravel, it can’t be stopped. The result is hysterical hysteria with a surprise ending. Prairie Springs as a bound book and as a Kindle book are available at Amazon.com. The author can be reached at LRWilliamson.com.
