FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Dec 03, 2007 – Washington, DC & Edmonton, Alberta, Canada: The Alberta Enterprise Group (AEG) is pleased to announce the support of Washington-based GWEST for their upcoming trade mission to Washington, DC, January 15-18, 2008.  The purpose of the mission will be to enhance already strong economic ties between Alberta and the United States and to build on the success of the Alberta’s energy industry to create long term, multi-sector economic growth in the province through increased bilateral trade.

The Alberta Enterprise Group is an Alberta-based advocacy group comprised of blue chip business leaders from diverse industries.  Through their various business interests, AEG members employ over 30,000 people and generate several billion in economic activity each year.  AEG members are at the forefront of the Alberta economy, which is an emerging economic powerhouse.

To help facilitate the sessions in Washington, AEG has engaged GWEST (Global Water & Energy Strategy Team, www.gwest.net) a Washington-based energy security business development consulting firm with expertise in Canada-U.S. relations.  GWEST is a leading advisor to sovereign nations, integrated oil and gas exploration, production and services companies, construction companies and financial institutions on the politics of the global energy markets.

“We are extremely pleased that GWEST has agreed to assist in preparing the agenda for AEG’s trade mission to Washington.  GWEST’s experience in energy policy development, ability to bring together key American constituencies and long track record as an advocate for stronger Canada-U.S. relations will be critical to making our mission in Washington a success,” said Tim Shipton, President of Alberta Enterprise Group.

In addition to being an advisor to foreign governments and private sector companies GWEST has produced FirstInsight: The Global Politics of Energy, a quarterly examination of the impact of geopolitics on global energy markets for Calgary’s FirstEnergy Capital Corp. since 2003.

“We are honored to be working with Alberta Enterprise Group, under the leadership of Cal Nichols and Tim Shipton, to help shape the agenda for their mission to Washington.  Responsible unconventional natural resource development is just one part of that story. We know AEG will find a receptive audience in Washington and look forward to helping their members develop long-lasting economic benefits from what we know will be the first of many such delegations,” said Paul Michael Wihbey, GWEST’s president.

In addition to presentations on Capitol Hill the other highlights of the trip will include presentations from senior government officials from the province of Alberta and Cities of Edmonton and Calgary as well as participation from top Alberta business leaders.
