New Arrow Trucking President Seeks Growth Through Enhancing Driver Incentives

Tom Witt, head of Tulsa-based flatbed shipping company, implements vision for success.

Nov. 26, 2007 - PRLog -- Tom Witt, President of Arrow Trucking (http://www.arrowtrucking.com), has wasted no time in implementing his vision on improving Arrow’s operations. His plan includes improving facilities, diversifying markets to increase overall revenues, and reducing driver turnover.

“Simply put, our vision for Arrow is Growth! If a company does not grow, it dies,” said Mr. Witt. “When a company grows, it flourishes and is then enabled to offer long term, meaningful work experiences to all of its associates.”

Mr. Witt enacted incentive programs to retain their current professional truck drivers (http://www.arrowtrucking.com/index.cfm?id=13) and make Arrow Trucking more attractive to new drivers. Incentives included increasing driver tarp pay, instituting a safety performance bonus, increasing trainer pay and expedite referral cash payouts. Mr. Witt has also sought to instill, in the truck drivers, a sense of their own personal stake in the company.

“It is cultural awareness, helping people understand how their role affects others and how they can contribute to the company as a whole,” said Mr. Witt. “We want to offer a meaningful career experience for company drivers and lease operators. They are the lifeblood of the company.”

To make facilities more comfortable for drivers, Mr. Witt approved the renovation of company facilities. “Our Houston facility has been remodeled and we’ve removed space in Tulsa as well. New furniture, new carpet – we want clean, safe, comfortable spaces for the drivers to relax in.”

Tom Witt, a 27-year veteran in the freight transportation industry, accepted the post as Arrow Trucking President last April.  Since then he has been enthusiastic about bringing his experience to his new home at Arrow.

“Our company cannot grow without talented, safe and dedicated driving professionals,” said Mr. Witt. “Our drivers are the life blood of the organization and without them, our company cannot succeed. Hence, as our company attains this vision of profitable growth, Arrow must continue to enhance the quality of our driver work experience.”

Mr. Witts background in the trucking industry has included executive positions at companies including: Smithway Motor Xpress, Roehl and Dart. His longevity in the industry has taught him that successful companies include input from everyone involved.

“We have meetings every other week with our operations staff to get their feedback and see what we can do to help them,” said Mr. Witt.

Mr. Witt is optimistic about the future for Arrow Trucking.

“I am very excited about being at Arrow,” said Mr. Witt. “All of Arrow’s employees and operators deserve meaningful long term careers. My goal is to see that happen and to grow the company as a whole.”
