Marble Falls, TX, ...Horseshoe Bay Resort Marriott in Marble Falls, TX was the host site for the American Challenge Golf Tour’s (ACGT) 2007 Tour Championships from November 13th to November 18th. In an expanded format for 2007, the six day extravaganza featured cash competitions for Senior Open and Pro Series for members and non-members in 54-hole events Tuesday-Thursday, followed by weekend 54-hole events for ACGT’s Net Division, Senior Tour, Senior Net, and National Net Open. The famous Ram Rock and Apple Rock courses, coupled with a few central Texas windy days at Horseshoe Bay, provided almost 100 qualified championship golfers from across the country with a true test of golf over the six days.
Tony Peterson, a senior player from Blytheville, AR, clearly had the best week in the field. With rounds of 73, 75, and 76 on the weekend, he swept the Net Division ($10,000 1st Place), Senior Tour, and Senior Net Championships. Other winners included John Taylor (Monroe, GA) in the Senior Open, Justin Otto (Llano, TX) in the Pro Series Open, and Phil Schwartz (Ft. Worth, TX) in the National Net Open. Jerry (Will) Callaway from Garland, TX also won flighted competition in the Net Division. 81 entrants and local members also enjoyed hotly contested rounds at the Marriott’s famous Whitewater putting course (par 72) in a National putting championship sponsored by YES Golf.
Ron Beaman, Founder and President of ACGT, couldn’t have been more pleased with the event. At his Vision Banquet on Saturday night for players and spouses, he said, “The folks from the resort truly rolled out the red carpet for our first event at Horseshoe Bay – and we’ll be back. And with a record number of ACGT members attempting to qualify for the 2007 Tour Championship, the future of our tour has never been better.” Later in the evening, Beaman thrilled the attendees with the announcement that “a $10,000 prize would again be awarded in 2008, but for second place, since the winner in 2008 will earn $20,000!”
ACGT concluded it’s sixth year of competition with total prize money exceeding $500,000 in 2007. Founded as The Champions Golf Tour in the Dallas Ft. Worth area in 2002, ACGT has conducted over 150 competitions in twelve different markets in the U.S. for golfers of all skill levels to compete for cash and experience the “inside the ropes” feeling generally only seen on TV in a PGA tour environment. And in 2007, ACGT introduced a Senior Tour which will be expanded to 12-15 events across the country in 2008.

------About American Challenge Golf Tour
American Challenge Golf Tour (formerly Champions Golf Tour) was founded by Ron Beaman in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area in April 2002. Ron developed a business model that would provide avid recreational golfers a chance to play in an environment similar to major tour events – “inside the ropes” for significant prize money – utilizing a proprietary handicap system. After conducting its first event in June, 2002, CGT followed with 17 tournaments in 2002 and awarded nearly $60,000 in prize money. Significant and sustained growth has occurred in subsequent years in player participation, number of events, and prize money. With over 1000 players in their system, ACGT conducted over 150 events in 2007 within ten state and twelve metropolitan city areas, and the payouts exceeded the $500,000 barrier. “The Model that Works” is now being adopted effectively and implemented successfully in multiple cities, with projected expansion into 5-10 new markets each year through a unique licensing rights program.
In addition, ACGT has expanded its 2008 Senior Tour schedule to include 10-12 new 54 hole events across the country. See www.acgtour.com for details and contact info.
