Award winning Jamie Parrish choreographs for Raggs Band Holiday Jam!

PRLog (Press Release) – Nov 26, 2007 – Charlotte, NC - Award winning Atlanta based choreographer Jamie Parrish, represented by Xcel Talent Agency of Atlanta, recently launched his own personal holiday gift to thousands of kids in over 24 cities across America.  Parrish, considered one of the leading choreographers in children’s entertainment, was chosen for his ability to combine several forms of dance - ballet, tap, hip-hop, jazz - and even gymnastics all together in a virtual feast for the eyes.  Raggs, LLC and KQED debuted the international hit preschool television series  “Raggs” in the US market this summer. Twenty-Six half hours of “Raggs” began airing on select PBS kids stations June 1. Toni Steedman, creator and president of Raggs, LLC, expanded, “Jamie took our vision for the show to a totally mind-boggling level.  The kids in our first Charlotte concert were going nuts!  His choreography was a perfect complement to the script.  We are so proud to have formed this relationship with him.  His creativity is boundless.”
   In this appealing new television series, “Raggs” stars five colorful canine characters and their wisecracking pet cat, who play great rock’n’roll music and live in their own clubhouse. Known professionally as the Raggs Band, the talented musicians are best friends and together discover the joy of learning. Music, literacy, science and discovery themes weave together with amusing storytelling for a seamless, entertaining learning experience. "I've never seen characters who can entertain and inspire quite like Raggs and his gang. There's no question they've got the pulse of what's happening in children's entertainment today!    Co-produced by Raggs LLC, a Charlotte, North Carolina production and touring company, and Southern Star International, a major producer and distributor of television programming in the world, “Raggs” is a fast-paced mix of humorous stories and character-driven action. The innovative format, which features live costumed characters, animated segments, interviews, with   children and music videos, reinforces one preschool academic and pro-social theme per program using a variety of segments. Steedman explained, “We started here in the U.S. with touring, CDs and TV specials, but we found our production relationship and first broadcaster in Sydney, Australia.” Steedman added, “Actually, the series has become a complex international production with the physical sets in Sydney, animations from Southern Star’s Singapore studio, music and sound from Concentrix Music and Sound Design in Charlotte and U.S. segments produced by Emulsion Arts, also here in Charlotte.”   In 2005, Southern Star, which handles global sales of the series, signed one of the largest children’s television production deals in the world to produce Series 165 half hours of the new  “Raggs” series, for Network Seven in Sydney, Australia.
