Robert Galbraith Commences as Host of WCPE Opera House Dec. 6

Shakespearean Inspired Opera to be Highlighted

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov 26, 2007 -
WAKE FOREST, N.C. —TheClassicalStation.org announces today that Robert Galbraith, founding artistic director of the Opera Company of North Carolina, will begin his tenure as host of the WCPE Opera House on Thursday, December 6. Galbraith looks to build upon the legacy of the late Al Ruocchio and will feature Giuseppe Verdi’s “Falstaff” as the first performance in a three-month celebration of Shakespearean-inspired operas.

“I am looking forward to embracing a new aspect of presenting opera to the community,” says Galbraith. “Radio is new to me. I look forward to extending my audience and honoring Al Ruocchio’s work.”

Based on Shakespeare’s “The Merry Wives of Windsor” and “Henry IV,” the Verdi opera will feature renowned baritone Tito Gobbi as Falstaff. In an interview with Opera magazine, Michael Langdon said, “Gobbi belonged to that special breed that so combine singing and acting that they become inseparable – the complete art form demanded by opera at its sublime best.”

WCPE Opera House has been a regular feature of TheClassicalStation.org each Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. ET since April 1980.

To honor legendary host Al Ruocchio, WCPE will air a previously recorded Ruocchio presentation once a month during the Opera House time slot.
