Why do UK ladies leave their phones behind in restaurants?

Next time you are at lunch and you see someone smashing their phone on the table before they leave the restaurant, you'll know their dietitian has just told them that 5000 calories is more than enough by 2pm.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Nov 22, 2007 – Apart from having to listen to the idiot beside you on the train shouting nonsense into his phone, there is another reason to treat phones with disdain.
A company called V-Clinic is now providing its V-Clinic Mobile system to users free of charge and it's very much a case of 'big brother watching you eat'.
Their products are now been used in many countries and e-clinics such as www.form.me.uk, www.new-you.tv and www.vclinic.net are sprouting up to provide services based around the technology.

V-Clinic Mobile is a personal nutrition system that works on mobile phones and the web. Users track their food and nutrient intake (over 60 nutrients) and by simply selecting a menu option on the product, they can upload their nutrition, exercise and weight data back to their dietitian for professional dietary analysis and other services.
Based on this data, their dietitian can then decide the best course of action for the user and can even create a personalized diet that can be downloaded directly to V-Clinic Mobile.

Commenting on the decision to provide V-Clinic as a free to use service, Carl Kiernan, CEO, stated - "We have opened quite a few e-Clinics over the last 6 months and we felt that by making V-Clinic Mobile free to use, we would rapidly increase the user base for these e-Clinics. Already there are about 1000 downloads a day of V-Clinic Mobile.
I guess the big question now is how many of these new users will decide to use the services of an e-Clinic dietitian. We are very confident that many users will want to have their unique personalized mobile diet and the support of a professional dietitian. Especially those people who are struggling with weight issues."

Daily limits can be set by the dietitian for any nutrient or food. For instance, V-Clinic Mobile will alert the user if they have eaten less than 5 portions of fruit or vegetables in a day, or if they have had more than 70 grams of fat.  The system really brings personalized nutrition services to a new level.

The unique thing about V-Clinic Mobile is that no matter where you are, as long as you have a mobile phone,  you can get a dietitian to provide you with one-to-one support.
It's very easy to use and very well designed. It seems to be proving extremely popular with men also - probably due to the fact that nobody will ever know that they are on a diet!
Kiernan says - "Why use one of those generic diets from the likes of Tesco Diets or WeightWatchers when you can have a personalized diet delivered straight to your phone by your very own dietitian? Plus, you can always meet the dietitian face to face if you want - you can't do that with Tesco Diets. I'm sure though that they will eventually get round to this too!"

With this move, V-Clinic Interactive Health are also chasing the emerging mobile food advertising market. The downloaded product contains thousands of food names and brands. The company believes that food advertisers will pay to have their foods included in the product with the highest advertising price for the foods in the most prominent positions. As the product displays the nutrient content of all foods, it would seem to be an ideal opportunity for health foods.
Many companies are trying out new lifestyle products and services for phones.
It seems that V-Clinic is a step ahead of the rest as they have managed to create a service that benefits both dietitians and consumers.

To download and use V-Clinic Mobile for free, go to www.vclinic.net, www.getjar.com or www.nokia.mosh.com or just key in http://www.vclinic.net/vclinic_mobile.jad into the internet browser on your phone.
