Sounds of Lincoln - New Music for Concert Band

"Sounds of Lincoln" is the latest work for concert band from composer Rob Walker. This new work sonically depicts the life and times of Abraham Lincoln from his childhood in Illinois to that fateful evening at Ford's Theater. The work utilizes actual themes from Lincoln's campaign, slave songs, civil war songs, emancipation songs, and the actual themes from his funeral. This piece is a Grade IV and is 11 minutes and 48 seconds.
Rob Walker is a multi-facted composer who's music can most recently be heard on NBC's Friday Night Lights for which he composed the marching band cues. He studied at the Berklee College of Music and holds at B.A. from New York University. He did additional compositional studies at the Juilliard School.
