Advocates for Children Wants to Make the Holidays Brighter

PRLog (Press Release) – Nov 19, 2007 – Advocates for Children is a non-profit organization located in Cartersville that strives to provide children of Northwest Georgia with safe and comforting surroundings. Flowering Branch Children’s Center, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), First Steps, Teen Pregnancy Prevention and Project Safe Place are all special program and services provided by Advocates for Children.

Flowering Branch, http://www.advochild.org/flowering.asp, can house six boys and six girls at any one time. This remarkable facility provides transportation to and from school, basic care, love, attention and friendship to children in need. With the holiday season quickly approaching, the children in the shelter are in extreme need of special attention. The facility plans holiday activities, but it heavily relies on donations to help make them magical. The following items are needed in December:

•   Watches     
•   Jewelry
•   Edited music CDs  
•   Disposable cameras
•   Gift certificates for film developing
•   Ironing board (s)
•   Three ring binders     
•   Pots and pans
•   Monetary donations  
•   T shirts – regular and tank style
•   Slippers, stay at home socks
•   Blue or black ink pens
•   Undergarments   
•   Non-violent Playstation I, Playstation II and X-Box games
•   Recent G and PG rated movies   
•   Hand sanitizer
•   Toilet tissue     
•   Paper towels
•   Bottled water  
•   Toothpaste, tooth brushes, floss
•   Disposable three bladed razors, shaving cream

Advocates for Children’s mission is to offer safety, comfort and hope to children and youth by providing resources and support to strengthen the community of families. In order to reach this goal, partners and volunteers are a necessity. Volunteers are always needed in every aspect of Advocates, and there are different levels of partners to fit every budget.
